3 days!!

Hello again!

We are only 3 days away from the reunion.  I can't believe that it is coming so quickly!

I wanted to give a few reminders:

*You are in charge of your own meals.  Griddles will be provided for breakfasts if you want to use them.  We will have a big BBQ grill there to cook dinners.
*Don't forget to bring a salad or side dish to share with the dinners. (One per family)
*Bring a towel for rafting
*Nights will be cooler so bring warm clothes. http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USWY0064
*Don't forget sun block and mosquito spray.
*Bring camp chairs if you want

Also, I wanted to kind of give you guys a TENTATIVE schedule so that you could know what is going to be happening.  So here it is:

Thursday:

Set up camp

Family games

6:30: Dinner (Burgers & Hot Dogs, don't forget the buns)

Campfire

Friday:

8:00 Breakfast

9:30 Hike up to Intermittent Springs (The largest of only 3 intermitting springs in the world) http://www.starvalleywy.com/intermspg/index.htm

12:30ish: Lunch at the park in Afton

2:00: Golfing (for those that are going)

2:00: Games

After Dinner: In-law out-law softball (or kickball)

Saturday:

7:00: Breakfast  (Breakfast today HAS to be early!!  We have to be leaving camp by 8:30 and up the canyon to float the river by 9:30)

9:30:  Snake river canyon float!  We have about even amounts doing scenic float and whitewater.  It's going to be really fun!  The only thing we all need to know is that everyone needs to wear a life jacket and we CAN NOT have more than 14 people on a raft.  If we do we will get a huge fine!

Lunch will be on the rafts (or if you pull over on the bank somewhere, or you can wait until you get off the rafts)

6:30: Dinner (Deep fried turkeys! Yumm!!)

After dinner we are going to play "Family Jeopardy".  Let's see how much you know about our family!!

8:00: Line dancing & Square dancing.  A friend of mine is going to come down and teach us some dances.  It is going to be really fun!

Campfire (if you still have the energy after a very full day of fun!)

Sunday:

Breakfast: whenever you want :)

If you would like to attend church our Sacrament meeting starts at 9:00.

Head our own separate ways :(

Meal Plan

Ok so here is the plan for the meals....

Everyone needs to bring their own food for breakfasts and lunches.  We will have an electric griddle or two for you to use if you want to cook pancakes or bacon or whatever.

For dinners we are asking each family (example: Terry & Diane are one family, Brandy & Eric are one family and Tami & Nick are one family)  to bring a salad/side dish to share.  They will be split between lunches and dinners each of the days (Thursday night-Saturday night).  You can bring it premade or make it there.  Either way will work.

Also, we are asking that you bring your own meat for the dinners.

Thursday is Hamburgers and Hot Dogs. (topping will be provided)

Friday is Chicken

Saturday we will be deep frying 3 Turkeys so you will not need to bring the meat for that night.

Tami's husband, Nick, is bringing over a huge BBQ grill on a trailer that we will be using to cook all of the meat.

Also, there is a fridge in the kitchen at the park so if we need to put stuff in there we can.  But please plan on bringing a cooler for your food.  There will not be enough room in the fridge for everyone's stuff.

There is a grocery store close by if you need to do your shopping here.

I hope that this makes sense.  If you have any questions please comment below or comment on the facebook page.

Can't wait to see you all!!!!

Freedom

I thought that I would put up a few pictures of Freedom, Wyoming/Idaho and tell you a little bit about Freedom.

Freedom is situated right on the Wyoming/Idaho state line.  The main road is called Stateline Rd.  One side of the road is Idaho and one side of the road is Wyoming.  It got its name back in the late 1800's, by Mormon polygamists in order to escape arrest for polygamy: they could be free from Idaho police simply by walking into Wyoming, and vica versa. So they could have one wife in Wyoming and one wife in Idaho and could not get arrested. The community was named for the freedom it gave these early settlers.

Freedom is the oldest settlement in Star Valley and at one time, was the largest settlement in Star Valley. There was a general store, a gas station, billiard hall, and other establishments. Today some of the old buildings still stand, but very few are still in use. The Post Office and Baseball Park are still used, along with the LDS Church, which was built in 1889. Freedom is also the home of Freedom Arms, a gun factory and maker of the .454 Casull handgun. (for all of you gun lovers out there)

One of the kids in my Sunday School class made 2 of these signs for his eagle project.
I think they turned out pretty cool.

We will be having our reunion at the Freedom Ballpark.

The "Let Freedom Ring Grove" is a perfect place for tent camping.  It is all grass and there are a few picnic benches around and a few shade trees.

We will also have plenty of space for campers or trailers if you want to bring one.

There is a full playground that I'm sure the kids are going to love.  (Mine do!)

We have a huge pavilion full of benches that we can do all of our meals and hanging out.  It also has a kitchen to do all of our cooking in.  We will also have plenty of fresh water and bathrooms.

There is a fire pit for hanging out and roasting hot dogs or whatever.

I forgot to take a picture of the baseball diamond but I will this spring.  So no worries our In-law/Out-law ball game will still happen!!

Here are a few pictures of "downtown" Freedom.

Freedom is also home to some of the most beautiful sunsets that I have ever seen.  I can't get enough of them and Eric is always teasing me about how many pictures that I take of the sunsets.  But really, after looking at some of these you can't blame me.

See I told you!  I'm sure we will have some pretty ones when you all come in July!!

On a side note.  Grandma is going to be doing shirts for all of us again this year and wanted to let everyone know that they will be $6.00 each (if I remember right) so we need to get our money to Grandma sometime in the near future.

Can't wait to see you all this summer!!!!
